ITINERARY
DAY 1: ARRIVE ANCHORAGE, ALASKA
Arrive in Anchorage and transfer to Girdwood, where you check in to your hotel. Enjoy activities on offer at your resort, such as a ride up Mount Alyeska on the Alyeska Aerial Tram to take in breathtaking views.

DAY 2: KENAI PENINSULA | SCENIC FLOAT TRIP
This morning, meet with your Resident Tour Director for a briefing about the journey ahead, and then set out together to experience Alaska’s jaw-dropping landscapes on a family float trip down the Portage River. Savor Alaska’s prized fish during a lunchtime salmon bake. Later, pay a visit to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, a nonprofit organization that rehabilitates injured or orphaned animals and returns them to the wild. During your visit, keep on the lookout for black and brown bears, moose, bison, wolves, and a variety of birds. This evening, gather with fellow families for a festive welcome dinner at a local restaurant.

DAY 3: KENAI PENINSULA | ALONG THE COAST OF THE KENAI FJORDS
Set sail for a cruise along the coast of the stunning Kenai Fjords National Park, where you may spy calving glaciers as well as wildlife that includes orcas, adorable puffins and sea lions at close range; overhead, bald eagles may even come into view. Later, ride the Alaska Railroad GoldStar Dome train, which features an open-air platform and a glass-covered observation deck for sensational views of the countryside.

DAY 4: REDOUBT BAY | BEAR SANCTUARY
Approximately 90% of Alaska is not served by roads, which is why aviation plays such an important role in everyday life. Enjoy the chance to Ride Like a Local when you soar by plane over Cook Inlet en route to Redoubt Bay, a critical habitat for mammals, fish and hundreds of birds. Cruise its waters with your family on a pontoon boat, enjoying the scenery. Later, continue to your accommodations in a rustic-modern lodge that overlooks Denali National Park and North America’s tallest peak, Denali (formerly Mount McKinley).

DAY 5: TALKEETNA | EPIC ALASKAN RIVER FISHING
Today, explore the quaint downtown of Talkeetna. Visit the family-run Kahiltna Birchworks, where learning about birch sap is rewarded with tastings of birch-made candy and ice cream. Then, head out on a privately guided angling experience, trying your hand at fishing on local rivers teeming with salmon, trout and char, and lined with towering fir trees. This evening, enjoy time together at your wilderness lodge, relaxing on the deck with views of endless mountain scenery or inside with board games by a giant river rock fireplace.

DAY 6: TALKEETNA | GUIDED HIKE & GLACIER WALK
Embark on a jet-boat excursion on the glacier-fed Susitna River, watching for bald eagles and other wildlife. Next, join a knowledgeable naturalist guide on a hike of Talkeetna’s best trail that reveals Alaska’s abundant flora and fauna. Later, take off on another thrilling flight, this time over the peaks and glaciers of Denali National Park, as your pilot explains the highlights via two-way headset. Land — and walk — on a glacier’s surface (weather permitting), surrounded by snow-veiled peaks. Then, make an A&K-exclusive visit to the Talkeetna Roadhouse, and take away a box of sweet treats to decorate and enjoy.

DAY 7: ANCHORAGE | HUSKIES & IDITAROD CHAMPIONS
Depart for Anchorage, stopping en route to visit the kennels of four-time Iditarod champion Martin Buser and his Alaskan husky team. Every March, this long-distance, dog-sled race is run from Anchorage to Nome, with mushers, such as Martin, and their teams of 16 dogs facing everything from blizzards to subzero temperatures. Enjoy learning about these remarkable and energetic canines, who are always eager for a gentle pat on the head. Tonight, meet the chef who prepares your farewell dinner, and then feast and share favorite stories from your journey with the new friends you’ve made.
